Aerie’s Resort for your next Wedding or Reception

You know Aerie’s winery for the outstanding view in Grafton and great food and wine.  Did you also know they have a Ballroom Terrace for your wedding and or reception.  I have officiated several weddings there this year and the view is the best in St. Louis or Illinois that you will find.

You and 300 of your closest friends. High above the lush green hillsides and rolling rivers, under the bright blue skies of spring and summer. Or immersed in the blazing palette of spectacular autumn colors. Or the crystal-clear panoramas of the winter months, enjoyed from climate-controlled comfort. An event at Aerie’s will leave your guests with an enduring image, any time of year. Memorable events deserve an unforgettable setting. That’s the concept behind Aerie’s Terrace, the centerpiece of our recent Expansion Project, offering new facilities and services aimed at giving you and your guests the experience of a lifetime.

The banquet room features seating for 300, panoramic views through the wrap-around windows, and an adjacent 4,400 square-foot outdoor deck.  Digitally project your slideshows, images, and video on multiple screens, and rock the house through our state-of-the-art AV system with integrated audio and wireless PA.

Hand Tying/Hand Fasting Ceremony

As this knot is tied, so are your lives now bound. Woven into this cord, into its very fibers, are all the hopes of your friends and family, and of yourselves, for your new life together. With the entwining of this knot do I tie all the desires, dreams, love, and happiness wished here in this place to your lives for as long as love shall last.

In the joining of hands and the fashion of a knot, so are your lives now bound, one to another. By this cord you are thus bound to your vow. May this knot remain tied for as long as love shall last.

May this cord draw your hands together in love, never to be used in anger. May the vows you have spoken never grow bitter in your mouths.

Two entwined in love, bound by commitment and fear, sadness and joy, by hardship and victory, anger and reconcilliation, all of which brings strength to this union. Hold tight to one another through both good times and bad, and watch as your strength grows. Remember that it is not this physical cord, but what it represents, that keeps you together.”

Adding Parents into your Wedding ceremony

Many couple’s are wanting to involve moms, dads and parents into the wedding ceremony.  I have below different passages you can put into your ceremony to acknowledge your parents.

____and ___ wish to let ___ and ___ and ___ and ___. know how much you mean to them and how important you have been to them from the very beginning. As you have watched and guided them and encouraged them to be the people they are today, so have you been there when they found each other. And it is fitting that today they are here before you, as they have always been, to ask you to witness their joining. They ask that you will still be there to guide them, to be there in difficult times and joyous ones, to be there for their children and to give them your guidance too. You see, this marriage is a marriage of family and ___and ___ acknowledge that their families are now uniting.

Now we shall celebrate this union as it is symbolized through the lighting of the unity candle.

_____and ___ come from two different families, two different heritages. We are especially grateful for the values which have flowed into them from those who have loved and nurtured them along life’s way.

The heritage each brings to this marriage will continue to be an important element in their lives, but now will be shared between them. Out of these two families, a new family will be created.

At this time I’d like the mothers to come forward to assist us in starting the Unity Candle ceremony, a ceremony of spiritual symbolism. The candles the moms are lighting represent not only _______and __________, but also their families, for it is their families who, through love and support, helped shape who they are.

The center candle represents their marriage-the joining of two friends with the added roles of husband and wife. It is the light of love and the light of new beginnings. Its fire is magical because it represents the light of two people in love. This candle before you is a candle of commitment because it takes two people working together to keep it aflame. This candle is also a candle of unity because both must come together, giving spark of themselves to create the new light.

Please take the two taper candles, representing your individual selves and light the center candle representing your marriage. As you light this candle today, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives. May it give you courage and reassurance in darkness, warmth and safety in the cold, and strength and joy in your bodies, minds and spirits. May your union be forever blessed.

___and ___ today you have agreed to share the rest of your lives together as a married couple.

But long before today your parents provided you with a foundation of love and caring which has brought you to this point.

At this time I’d like to invite the mothers of the bride and groom to come forward and to pour the first layer of sand which represents the basis upon which you will build your lives.

~Mothers pour the sand and then return to their seats.

The union you are making is symbolized by these two individual containers of sand; one representing you, ___, and all that you were, and all that you are, and that you will become.

The other one representing you, ___, and all that you were, and all that you are, and all that you will become.

As these two containers of sand are poured into a third container, the individual containers of sand will cease to exist but will be joined together as one.

Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.
